In 2022, Math Sprouts was originally envisioned as an animated series featuring families with children ages 2 to 6, where everyday challenges were met and overcome through simple, practical math skills. It was conceived as a more focused educational alternative to the overstimulating nature of the popular "educational" TV and YouTube content, inviting kids to learn and connect with the material rather than simply being entertained. We plan to continue developing this vision gradually.

Cliff Freeman

Founder, Math Sprouts

Cliff Freeman is the founder of Math Sprouts and a passionate leader in childhood STEM education. Based in Boston, Massachusetts, Cliff brings over a decade of experience teaching mathematics and other STEM disciplines to young learners, with a particular focus on creating joyful, developmentally appropriate learning environments.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, a Master's in Technology Management, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Boston University in Mathematics and Science Education. His research centers on how children learn foundational math concepts through play, exploration, and inquiry-based learning—principles that guide every aspect of the Math Sprouts curriculum.

Parents trust Cliff not only for his academic credentials, but for his deep commitment to ensuring that all children, especially those from underrepresented communities, enter school confident and ready for math and life. Under his leadership, Math Sprouts combines rigorous research back education with a warm, nurturing approach—giving families a place where their children can thrive intellectually, socially, and emotionally.

Drew Morris

Community Engagement Officer, Math Sprouts

Drew Morris, a lifelong Bostonian, brings a strong history of community-focused and people-centered leadership to Math Sprouts. Known for his ability to connect with people from all walks of life, Drew has spent years building trust, inspiring collaboration, and helping individuals move their ideas to action. He has a track record of bringing groups together around shared goals and finding creative ways to build synergy and momentum. Drew has known Math Sprouts founder Cliff Freeman since the first grade, and their long-standing brotherhood reflects the same values of trust, collaboration, and purpose that drive the organization forward. As Community Engagement Officer, he draws on this rich experience to support Math Sprouts' mission of closing the early math gap and engaging families and partners in meaningful, lasting ways.
